Muhammad Usman, a resident of Islamabad's F-10 sector, bought chicken for Rs 650 per kg a day ago, and today, Wednesday, the price has gone up to around Rs 700 per kg. Whereas according to the price list issued by the government, chicken in Islamabad is currently Rs.500 per kg. Usually, the shops in the city have a price list on which the chicken or food items are sold.

"The problem is that chicken shops have different prices," Usman told the BBC. Here this chicken is fetching around 700 rupees per kg. The price list issued by the government is not available here. Yesterday I gave 650 rupees. Now the question is, who is monitoring these prices? And is it expected of us that we give money without asking?

Deputy Commissioner Islamabad Irfan Nawaz Memon has issued a declaration taking 'notice' of the price hike, according to which fine will be imposed on the shopkeepers who will not display the official price list.

Currently, chicken prices are different in different cities in Pakistan. Chicken is getting Rs 570 per kg in Quetta, Rs 580 per kg in Karachi, Rs 549 in Lahore, and Rs 365 per kg in Peshawar.

Amid the clamour that the price of chicken in Pakistan might be even higher than that of goat meat, a woman named Amara wrote that its price would reach Rs 900 per kg.

He asked, "Will it change anything?" no. The middle class will stop eating chicken and shut up.

He said that due to this, Pakistan will never be able to develop because "on one side there is a corrupt system and on the other side the so-called 'nation'".

Many people took to Twitter to blame various governments for the rising chicken prices.

But Muhammad apparently offered a derisive 'congratulations' to all governments.

A customer named Yum Fazal said, "May Allah have mercy on the poor; flour is Rs. 140 per kg, eggs are Rs. 300 per dozen, chicken is Rs. 600 per kg."

What is the reason for the price increase?

One of the main reasons for this is the food or feed of the chickens.

Pakistan Poultry Association chairman Muhammad Ashraf told the BBC that the prices of chickens and eggs will rise further in the coming days "because the feed given to chickens is currently suspended at customs."
He said that 30 to 35 per cent soybean is used in this feed, exported from Pakistan, USA, and Brazil. This feed was coming for ten years. Suddenly, it has been questioned that it uses genetically modified organisms (GMOs), so we won't use them. Due to the stubbornness departments, eight of our ships are standing at the port of Karachi, and six more are on the way. The fee for anchoring these ships at the port is 1000 dollars per hour.
While the government maintains that Pakistan is part of the global campaign against using GMO seeds. Hence raising questions about its use and not issuing release orders for ships.

As a result, between five and seven thousand chicken feed is available. While Muhammad Ashraf and other union officials like him blame the increase in the prices of chickens on the Federal Minister for Food Security and Research, Tariq Bashir Cheema.
Tariq Bashir Cheema said in response to a press conference on Wednesday that the increase in the price of chicken will be brought under control very soon.

While the commission formed by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had ordered the six-ministerial committee formed in October last year to investigate the increase in the price of chickens and the issue of ships standing at the port.
Mohammad Ashraf said that the decision of this committee has also been favourable and has come in favour of the association. But despite this, progress has yet to be made so far.

A situation of protest is being created at this time. Mohammad Ashraf says, "Earlier, we called for a protest on Thursday, after which some agitation was seen." But if nothing is done about it now, we will protest and do it on Thursday itself.
